Connect Instagram to RevenueCat
See which Instagram posts produced a subscription or a subscriber in RevenueCat. Setup takes one connection on each side, and no Instagram ads are required.
What you get
Instagram's figures beside RevenueCat's subscribers, a tracked link per placement, and a campaign that says plainly when the store boundary held its confidence down.
Setting it up
- Paste your TikTok account. Epoyo reads what is public and works out what you sell, who buys it and what counts as a conversion. No account is needed for this step.
- Connect Instagram. Authorise read access to an Instagram account. Epoyo reads followers and interactions at the account level, and views, likes, comments, shares and saves on the individual posts it reads, and cannot publish, edit or delete anything.
- Connect RevenueCat. Create a v2 secret API key in your RevenueCat dashboard and paste it into Epoyo. It begins with sk_, the shape is checked before any request leaves the machine, and it is sealed before it is stored. You can optionally name a project to scope the read.
- Give each destination its own code. A single bio link tells you Instagram sent traffic. A coded destination per post is what lets RevenueCat report a subscription or a subscriber back against the video that caused it.
The part that catches people out
Instagram's audience is overwhelmingly mobile, which is good for app installs and bad for tracing them: nearly every journey crosses an app store, and the store carries no memory of the link that started it.
Worth knowing about Instagram
Instagram serves metrics only for business and creator accounts. A personal account will connect without complaint and then report nothing, which is the single most common cause of an empty Instagram row. Instagram also uses an in-app browser, so the referrer is as unreliable as TikTok's.
Worth knowing about RevenueCat
Mobile app installs cross the App Store or Play Store, and the store does not carry your link code across that boundary. This pair is the one place where part of the chain is genuinely approximate, and the pages say so rather than pretending otherwise.
Common questions
- Does a link sticker survive the App Store handoff?
- Not on its own. Routing through a page that records the code before sending the visitor to the store is what preserves the connection.
- Should I send people to the store or to my site?
- To your site, if you want to measure this at all. A direct store link converts marginally better and gives up almost all attribution.
