Connect Instagram to Shopify
See which Instagram posts produced a paid order, counted into revenue and customers in Shopify. Setup takes one connection on each side, and no Instagram ads are required.
What you get
Instagram's figures beside Shopify's revenue and customers, with each placement's clicks counted per day for as long as its link was live.
Setting it up
- Paste your TikTok account. Epoyo reads what is public and works out what you sell, who buys it and what counts as a conversion. No account is needed for this step.
- Connect Instagram. Authorise read access to an Instagram account. Epoyo reads followers and interactions at the account level, and views, likes, comments, shares and saves on the individual posts it reads, and cannot publish, edit or delete anything.
- Connect Shopify. Enter your .myshopify.com shop domain, then approve the connection. Epoyo requests read_orders and read_products and nothing else; card details never leave Shopify.
- Give each destination its own code. A single bio link tells you Instagram sent traffic. A coded destination per post is what lets Shopify report a paid order, counted into revenue and customers back against the video that caused it.
The part that catches people out
Story link stickers vanish after 24 hours, but the orders they cause keep arriving for days. Any report that reads a link's current state rather than the click that happened while it was live will quietly drop those orders.
Worth knowing about Instagram
Instagram serves metrics only for business and creator accounts. A personal account will connect without complaint and then report nothing, which is the single most common cause of an empty Instagram row. Instagram also uses an in-app browser, so the referrer is as unreliable as TikTok's.
Worth knowing about Shopify
Shopify's own analytics has the same referrer blindness as GA4, so its channel report will disagree with a coded one. The coded number is the one that can name a video.
Common questions
- What about Instagram Shopping tags?
- Purchases completed inside Instagram never reach your storefront and are outside this chain. This pair measures traffic you route to your own Shopify checkout.
- Can I tell Reels and Stories apart in the report?
- Yes, provided each placement carries its own code. That is the whole reason to give a Story sticker a different destination from the bio link.
